Broodstock Facility in Skálavík

Bakkafrost intends to build a broodstock station in Skálavík. The station will be the first of its kind in the world,

where all stages of the life cycle are on land. The preparation work began in 2020, and the construction is planned to be carried out in stages in the coming years. The broodstock station is designed and dimensioned to process several hundred different QTL families, thereby ensuring the best genetic composition.
