Biofilter Startup             

In close collaboration with fish farmers, SMJ has provided consultancy in the initial process of starting new biofilters in nine different RAS systems. The work includes:

• The initial stage with and without active inoculation using a nitrifying bacterial culture.
• The initial stage of denitrification in eight RAS systems, where methanol was used as a carbon source.
• Daily assessment of water quality and production conditions.
• Theoretical and practical training in RAS principles, water treatment, and quality.
